Highlights
On 22 April, a vehicle bomb exploded in an area near Sévaré airport, killing 10 civilians and injuring 66 others. According to the Direction Régionale de la Santé (DRS) in Mopti, the victims included 5 children killed and 17 others injured, as well as two pregnant women
According to data from the Malian government, a total of 375,539 IDPs were identified during the data collection and updating operation carried out in April 2023.
The humanitarian context remained volatile in Menaka with persistent insecurity. Local sources reported increased criminality perpetrated by armed individuals in Menaka town and along major road axes, triggering most of the population movements towards the city of Menaka.
During the month of April, 17 cases confirmed of measles were reported in Mali.
In April, 8,786 children aged 6-59 months suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) were admitted and treated in health and community facilities in Mali.
