Central African Republic: Overview of incidents affecting humanitarian workers (January - May 2023)

Context

The civilian population continues to be affected by tensions and armed violence in the Central African Republic. In May 2023, humanitarian personnel and assets were affected by 14 incidents. The same number of incidents as the previous month. The most recurrent incidents during the month of May were armed robberies of humanitarian vehicles, where the driver of an NGO rental vehicle was killed, as well as burglaries of humanitarian bases. The prefectures of Ouham (19.3 per cent) and Ouaka (17.5 per cent) remain the most affected since January 2023.
