The December 2022 monthly report from Cabo Ligado — or ‘connected cape,’ ACLED's Mozambique conflict observatory with Zitamar News and MediaFax — is now available for download. This month’s edition covers the risks and challenges of legalizing Local Forces; current trends in displacement and the return of IDPs; the trajectory of the insurgency and counterinsurgency going into 2023; the prospect of stability in Palma and Mocímboa da Praia; and more. Throughout December, ACLED records over 30 organized political violence events in Cabo Delgado, resulting in more than 60 reported fatalities.
